A FUNNY THING HAPPENS WHEN YOU HONOR YOUR PARENTS

A funny thing happens when you start to think of ways to honor your parent(s), then actually start doing it. You realize God wasn’t playing around when He said: “…HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (this the first commandment with promise) SO THAT IT MAY GOT WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH.” — Ephesians 6:1-3 (NASB) After a while of going out of your way to to do this, the gifts of your own heritage begin to alight like blessings that chase you down. Things of GREAT VALUE to you, treasured moments of the past appear vividly as comfort and powerful reason to press on. This obedience to God wells up courage and unbreakable perseverance—regardless of how prolonged and unbelievably terrible your situation may be. Could this be a hidden meaning behind Mathew 13:52: “And [Jesus] said to them, ‘Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house, WHO BRINGS OUT OF HIS TREASURE WHAT IS NEW AND WHAT IS OLD’.” — Mt.13:52 (ESV) Think of honoring your father and mother in the extreme, that you are not just looking for ways to self-recognize something special or great about your parent(s), but actually speak about it, build on it, even promote it. And if you say, “I HATE MY PARENT(S), they let me down so bad, they even went as far as to [whatever it is],” or “there is nothing great that my parents have done,” or “they’re dead.”
