BACK TO AFRICA JULY 2, 2024 — PRE TRIP UPDATE ALFONSO & ROSE RUESGA _______________

 

HOW LONG IN AFRICA? Almost a month. COST PER SUITCASE (FOR SUPPLIES)? Travel charge this year is from $200.00 to $250.00 EACH. We are taking TWELVE suitcases. WHO’S GOING? My husband Alfonso and I. TWO PEOPLE TWELVE SUIT CASES? We get carts and do it ourselves. WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT RAISING MONEY THIS TIME AROUND, IF ANYTHING? It was even more difficult to raise money this time around, people didn’t want to give, they seemed weary of giving, but then we had moments of breakthrough making this possible again. People are caught up in so many things. ANY RECOMMENDATIONS? Hold off on your Starbucks and help out. I’m like what’s up with this, soooo many excuses; people saying they want to help out, but then falling thru, etc. I’m checking out ‘social media’ and I’m like what is going on, these guys told me they don’t have enough to help out, they’re out party’ing it up like crazy, and I’m not even looking, but its right there in my face! SO WHAT DID YOU DO? I told myself I’m not supposed to trust in man but God anyway. I reminded myself God has a way of feeding even the birds everyday, and today has enough troubles of its own, not to focus on the worry about tomorrow. So we ramped up our yard sales even though my body was hurting, I’m striving, I’m willing to suffer that for the kids, because I see what they are going thru over there. WHAT ABOUT ALFONSO? Him too, he’s already so physically over burdened from work, but he kept going too, he worked a bunch of overtime hours to compensate for lack of giving. (I’m asking Rose and she’s just telling it like it is) We did a bunch of extra catering for my brother’s company, we prayed, we recycled a bunch of cans, we fasted.
